Telangana University – Nizamabad was established at Dichpally mandal, Nizamabad district through an enactment of A.P.State Legislature vide No. 28 of 2006 to cater to the academic pursuits of three backward districts viz. Nizamabad, Medak and Adilabad in the state of A.P. Subsequently the Government of A.P. has decided to retain the Medak district under the jurisdiction of Osmania University (Ref. G.O.Ms.No.57,Dated:25-06-10, HIGHER EDUCATION(UE-II)DEPARTMENT). The Government of Andhra Pradesh handed over 577 acres of land in Suddapally and Nadipally villages of Dichpally mandal to the University.

At present Telangana University – Nizamabad comprises of Four buildings namely, Administrative Block, Class room Complex, Boys Hostel and Girls Hostel. In addition to these buildings, separate blocks for Commerce and Management, Law and Computers will be constructed in a short period as administrative sanction was accorded by the Government and approved by Executive Council members.

Telangana University – Nizamabad is having an avowed goal of bringing quality higher education to the doorstep of backward Telangana region with special emphasis on the jurisdiction districts of Nizamabad and Adilabad. Telangana University – Nizamabad strives to promoting the excellence in higher education and enlightening the personalities of the students in order to mould them into future leaders in their chosen fields to ensure the just and humane society. The sprawling and scenic campus of Telangana University – Nizamabad is located abutting the National High Way 7 at Dichpally, which is 15 km away from the Nizamabad town on the Hyderabad highway. During the academic year 2006-07 Telangana University – Nizamabad started with 6 programmes with an intake of 28 in each programme and added 7 more programmes in 2007-08 and 5 more courses were launched in 2008-09 academic year thus raising the total number of courses offered at Telangana University – Nizamabad to 18 with an intake capacity to 28 in all the PG Programmes except MBA, MCA & LLB which has an intake of 30 each.

Telangana University – Nizamabad Library was established in the year 2006. At present the University Library has 13,400 books and subscribing to 20 Periodicals in the subject fields Science, Social, Technology and Management. Telangana University – Nizamabad Boys Hostel is located around half-a-kilometer from the University College complex in the Dichpally campus. The Boys Hostel building has a ground floor and one First Floor. The Ground Floor is having a total of 54 Rooms in four wings, while the First Floor has 57 Rooms in four wings. A modern Water purifier and Water Coolers are installed in each floor of the hostel. A qualified medical doctor visits the hostel everyday and offers services to the students between 4 and 6 pm. There are separate Reading Room cum Library, Doctor Room, Sick Room, TV Hall and Dining Hall in the hostel complex. All the major dailies of English and Telugu are subscribed for the benefit of the hostel inmates. A separate water plant for the purification of the water was set up in the hostel to provide safe drinking water to the students. A qualified medical doctor visits the hostel everyday and offers services to the students between 4 and 6 pm.

Telangana University – Nizamabad Girls Hostel is also located very near to the University College complex in the Dichpally campus. The ground Floor is having total of 42 Rooms in three wings, while the First floor has 44 Rooms in three wings. In this hostel also a modern Water purifier and Water Cooler is installed in the hostel and a qualified medical doctor visits the hostel everyday in the evening and offers services to the students.

There are separate Doctor Room, Sick room, Reading Room cum Library, TV Hall, Visitor Hall and Dining Hall in the hostel complex. Here also, a separate water plant for the purification of the water was set up in the hostel to provide safe drinking water to the students. The hostel’s mess is a Student Managed one.
