Meenakshi College of Engineering - MCE Chennai was started in the year 2001. The MCE is sponsored and managed by Meenakshi Ammal Trust (MAT). The members of the Trust are eminent personalities various walks of life such as Education, Research, Industry, and Administration. The Trust has dedicated itself to the cause of education with special attention to technical education to the socially and economically backward communities. Meenakshi College of Engineering - MCE Chennai aim is to provide them with a stimulating and fulfilling experience, which will help to enhance their knowledge base and develop their talent and skills. In light of this, MCE was established in 2001 by an order of Govt. of Tamil Nadu as a Telugu Linguistic Minority college, approved by AICTE. Now, the college is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai.

The boys are accommodated in six blocks of buildings adjacent to the college and the girl students are provided with a separate hostel, which is kept under continuous vigil by a tight security system. Good quality food is provided to the students at a reasonable cost. We have a fully automatic Domestic Mineral Water Plant that provides hygienic drinking water for the students.

The Alumni of Meenakshi College of Engineering - MCE Chennai was started in the year 2005 and the association is known as MCE Alumni Association. The total number of Alumni Members as on today is 650. The annual general body meeting is held every year in September to have get together with the passed out students. The alumni members are invited to deliver regular lecturers to the students on career opportunities in India and abroad, Management aspect in industries etc.
