Shailesh J Mehta School of Management - SJMSOM Mumbai was founded in 1995 to promote interdisciplinary learning and to keep up with the changing environment. It had the objective of altering professionals with technological background into "Renaissance Leaders" of tomorrow. In the year 2000, the school was renamed to Shailesh J Mehta School of Management - SJMSOM Mumbai, in honor of Dr. Shailesh J. Mehta, an eminent alumnus of IIT Bombay and a contributor to the school.

Shailesh J Mehta School of Management - SJMSOM Mumbai offers a full-time degree course in Master of Management, doctoral course and Management Development Programs. The School of Management draws on the wide-ranging intellectual resources of being situated in a technological institute with a strong background in entrepreneurship. SJMSM has emerged as one of the leading management schools in India.
