Jaysingpur College was established by Anekant Society way back in 1964 with the inspiration from the blessings of Saint Late Samantbhadra Maharaj. The Jain Philosophical concept ‘Siddhiranekantat’ became the motto and ‘Anekantwad’ found its name in the nomenclature of society. It was indeed laudable to think of providing higher education to rural students at that point of time, more so, when there was no college of higher education within a radius of 40 kilometers. Thus that segment of society which stood deprived of higher education till 1961 found a ray of bright future and hope from the academic point of view.

Jaysingpur College is situated at Jaysingpur – Dist. Kolhapur, Maharashtra. In order to ascertain the aims of the establishment of the college, there is a need to have a look at the name of the society viz., ‘Anekantwad’ (multi-dimensionalism) ‘Siddhiranekantat’ which finds a place in the motto of the college. The aim of education in this institution is to enrich the quality of matter i.e. the body matter of the individual so that the soul ‘within’ helps him to become a good ‘Siddha’ who will be an asset to the society.

Jaysingpur College is government funded as per provisions of the rules of grant-in-aid scheme as operative in Government affiliated colleges. It is creditable for the college to start some, self-financing courses with a view to augment financial sources and also to provide job-oriented education to the students. It got recognition from the University Grants Commission under 2(f) in March 1982 and 12 B in June 2007. Jaysingpur College has three faculties namely Arts, Commerce and Science. It runs at UG level B.A., B. Com., B.Sc., B.B.A., B.C.A., B.C.S., each of three years duration. The College runs five courses at PG level, namely, M. A. in Marathi, M. A. in Economics, M. A. in Hindi, M. Com. and M. Sc. in Analytical Chemistry each of two years duration. The College offered three special subjects at M. Com. course, namely, Advanced Accounting, Advanced Costing and Advanced Banking.

Jaysingpur College has also started the professional courses namely Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) and Bachelor of Computer Science (BCS) each of three years duration. All these courses at UG level are affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur.

Jaysingpur College has established an independent Computer Science Faculty. Thus, the college has been able to include Computer Application as one of the subjects along with Physics, Mathematics, Statistics and Electronics. The students studying B.Com are also offered Computer Application as one vocational course. Such students, on successful completion of the programme, get the degree of B.Com. with Computer Applications. The introduction of Functional English as an elective option in Arts Faculty both at the undergraduate and at postgraduate level definitely widens the job scope of these students in the market, wherever the communication skill in English is needed.

Besides these courses of University pattern/stream, Jaysingpur College has actively participated in the Career Oriented Programme (COP) of UGC. The College runs three Career Oriented Courses (COCs). Furthermore, Jaysingpur College also activity participated in the Adult and Continuing Education Programme of Shivaji University, Kolhapur, and runs various Career Oriented Courses under the said scheme, namely, (1) Certificate Course in Computer Application, (2) Certificate Course in Library Management, (3) Proficiency Course in English for Communication, (4) Certificate Course in Introduction to Income Tax, (5) Certificate Course in Balwadi (Pre-Primary) Teacher Training, (6) Certificate Course in Journalism and Mass Communication.

Furthermore, Jaysingpur College runs three courses affiliated to the ‘Department of Community Development’ of Shivaji University, Kolhapur, namely (1) Certificate Course in Medical Laboratory Techniciation, (2) Certificate Course in Gardening, (3) Certificate Course in DTP and Tally. Besides these affiliated Courses, the College runs three autonomous Courses, namely (1) Certificate Course in Tourism, (2) M.P.S.C. Foundation Course, (3) Certificate Course in Functional Hindi.

Jaysingpur College has also opened an autonomous institute namely ‘Institute of English and Foreign Languages’. Wide range of comprehensive courses in English, Japanese, Chinese, French, German are offered in the said institute. The entire curriculum/syllabus of the each of the courses has been prepared by the College. Jaysingpur College has evolved and formulated 12 curricula/syllabi of courses in Functional English, 7 in Foreign Languages, 2 in Computer Applications, 1 in Food Technology and 1 in Food, Water and Soil Analysis. It is indeed laudable to note that of these curricula/syllabi, four curricula/syllabi have been recognized and approved by the University, namely, (1) Certificate Course in Communication Skills in English under UGC-COP, (2) Certificate Course in Food, Water and Soil Analysis under UGC-COP, (3) Certificate Course in Information Technology and Computer Applications under UGC COP and (4) Certificate Course in Computer Application under Continuing Education Programme of Shivaji University in Jaysingpur College.

Beyond its immediate responsibility to provide the information services and resources that support the courses of study offered at the college, the library has the broader mission of fostering in our students the importance and necessity of lifelong learning.
