The U.P. State Government has established Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Govt Girls Degree College - Aliganj in the International Women’s year-1997 to augment higher education among women. Sri Atal Behari Bajpai, Former Prime Minister of India has laid foundation stone of the college on 14th April 1997 and also inaugurated the college building on October 3, 1997. The college is temporarily affiliated to Lucknow University and is included in section 2(f) of the UGC. The college is trying hard to provide the education that can shape the integrated and balanced personality of the learners. The College has been accredited ‘B’ grade by the NAAC, U.G.C.

The aim of education is the knowledge, not of facts, but of values. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Govt Girls Degree College - Aliganj was established to fulfil this aim. It was established in the international women year to augment higher education among women. It was named after the great Indian leader Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose who was a champion of women’ rights. The foundation stone of the college was laid by Sri Atal Behari Bajpai on 14th April 1997. There are many private colleges in the city but this was the first Government College. The college building was formally inaugurated on Oct.3, 1997 by Sri Atal Behari Bajpai. The college building is constructed over the land area of 10886 sq.m. by Lucknow Development Authority.

The college has the mission to empower women with the knowledge and information required for critical decision making. The entire educational process is directed to clear the clouds of doubt in order to enable them to look at ever widening horizons of opportunity with confidence and hope. In the present world scenario. The college is aiming at providing maximum possible learning resources for all section of society particularly the poor and backward sections by optimum utilization of its limited resources.

Co-curricular activities such as Debates, Quiz, Essay writing, Exhibitions, Symposia, Hobby courses, Guest lectures etc. are organized.
