Leupold originally Leupold & Stevens, Inc is a company that manufactures spare parts such as lenses and scopes for optical equipments like telescopes, microscopes and binoculars. The company was started as a family owned business and continued to work from generations started in the year 1907 with the hard works from Markus Friedrich (Fred) Leupold and his brother-in-law Adam Voelpel with the business name as Leupold & Voelpel. In the beginning both of them did repairing of survey equipments which earned them a contract from John Cyprian (J.C.) Stevens for the manufacture of a water level recorder which he had designed. The manufacture of that water level recorder received good response and J.C. Stevens made them members of his company.
