Three years later, Yahoo initiated mail service as Yahoo Mail.

In 2001, the company completed the acquisition of HotJobs, which later merged its operations with a multinational employment service provider Monster.com. In the year 2008, Yahoo SearchMonkey, a Yahoo service, was included on the Top 10 Semantic Web Product list. In July 2012, Marissa Ann Mayer became the President and Chief Executive Officer of the company. In September 2013, the company shut its operations in China, redirecting to taobao.com. In the same year, the company decided to purchase RockMelt. The acquisition resulted ceasing the operations of the latter, bringing it under Yahoo.

In March 2014, the company signed business agreement with American business ratings and reviews company Yelp, Inc.
