University College of Engineering - UCE Hyderabad is one of the oldest and the biggest among the Engineering Colleges of the State of Andhra Pradesh. It was established in the year 1929, eleven years after the formation of Osmania University and was the 6th Engineering College to be established in the whole of British India. The College moved to its current permanent building in the year 1947. At present, it is the biggest among the campus colleges of Osmania University. The college has celebrated Golden Jubilee of the College in 1979, the Diamond Jubilee in 1989 and the Platinum Jubilee in 2004. The College was made independent in 1994.
University College of Engineering - UCE Hyderabad is situated at Osmania University, Hyderabad. University College of Engineering-UCE, OU has 3 Boys Hostels namely: Kinnera Hostel, Ganga Hostel and Swarnamukhi Hostel. BE first year & final year students and all the three years MCA students are provided with accommodation in Kinnera, whereas BE Second & Third year students are placed at Ganga Hostel. The Swarnamukhi Hostel is meant only for M.E./M.Tech students. All the Girl students can seek admission in the Hostel for Women I, II & III which is situated on the campus near the University Administrative Building.
The Library of
University College of Engineering - UCE Hyderabad is situated in a spacious double storied building with a plinth area of about 2420 square meters. The Library was built on the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee of the College of Engineering-UCE in 1992. It looks after the needs of about 5000 users comprising Under-Graduate, Post-Graduate students Regular and Part-time Doctoral candidates, Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff. The Library procures and stocks mostly engineering books and journals to serve the requirements of all the branches of engineering and inter disciplinary subjects such as Math’s, Physics, Chemistry and English.
University College of Engineering - UCE Hyderabad offers four-year engineering degree programs leading to the award of Bachelor of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. It also offers courses leading to Master of Computer, Master of Science by Research and also Ph.D., in the different branches of Engineering. Part-time courses are also offered both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Currently, there is a yearly intake of 320 undergraduate students and 140 part-time students and 290 postgraduate students. There are in total 109 teaching staff members, including 24 professors.
University College of Engineering - UCE Hyderabad has a Placement Office equipped with latest infrastructure for the smooth and proficient conduct of Campus Recruitment Programmes by the visiting organizations. The Placement Officer starts and maintains relationship between various Industries/ Organizations and the Institution. These organizations are invited to the Institution for Campus Recruitment Programmes, which starts from the seventh semester of BE Courses each year. Organizations that have been visiting the college in recent years include Yahoo, Microsoft, ORACLE, D.E. Shaw, Amazon India, TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, CSC, CMC Ltd., G.E, Maruti Suzuki Ltd, Ashok Leyland, M & M Ltd., FIAT India Ltd., Siemens, IBM, HP, TVS Electronics etc.
